Darrion Earl Thompson was born on March 2, 2004, in Bakersfield, California, to Tyhesha Thompson and William Thompson. Though Bakersfield was his birthplace, Sacramento was his home, the city where he grew up, made lifelong memories, and graduated from Monterey Trail High School.
On July 21, 2025, Darrion was called home far too soon after a tragic car accident. While his time here was brief, his impact was anything but.
To know Darrion was to laugh not just a little chuckle, but the kind of laugh that made your stomach hurt, your eyes water, and had you questioning if you’d ever breathe normally again. He didn’t just bring the jokes, he was the joke, the punchline, and the standing ovation all in one. If joy had a spokesperson, it was Darrion the kind of funny that could turn a bad day into a good one with just a look, a joke, or that unforgettable, one-of-a-kind laugh. If you heard it, you knew it was him and chances are, you were laughing right along with him, whether you wanted to or not.
Darrion had a gift for joy. He was the friend who showed up when you needed a lift, the brother who cracked jokes at just the right (or wrong) time, and the soul who reminded us all not to take life too seriously.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Weldon Pogue and grandmother Valerie Cade, along with a host of other cherished family members all of whom were likely waiting at Heaven’s gates with open arms.
He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his light forward: his mother Tyhesha Thompson, father William Thompson, grandmother Sally Morgan, grandfather William Thompson Sr., siblings Labreshanae Thompson, William Thompson III, Asianae Thompson, Promisestajah Thompson, Ty’jerria Thompson, Ty’andre Thompson, and Kaash Thompson. He is also survived by his niece, Na’Liilyah Ware; his very special cousin who was raised as his sister, Trebreece Pogue; his Godmother, Rakia Robertson; God sisters, Iyana Dean and Tiffani Davis; and his Godson, Jaion Webster. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who adored him.
