In Loving Memory of Ramon Vonte Redding “Big Mone”
September 19, 1971 - April 19, 2025
Ramon was born September 19, 1971, to Verna Jean Ward “Bonnie” and Willie Redding in Bakersfield, California. His mom later married Jesse Lee, Jr “Chucky” and raised three boys, Ramon, Stanley and Jessie, III. Ramon attended local schools in Bakersfield. He attended Ventura College, San Bernardino, CA and Victor Valley College, Victorville, CA. Ramon accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in May, 2002 at St Peter RCCM. He rededicated his life to Christ on March 4, 2025. As a youngster, Ramon received the O.D. Williams Award for academic achievement, leadership development and citizenship. He loved sports and played in the Junior Baseball League (JBA). He loved doing backflips on the baseball diamond. Ramon worked different jobs and later married the love of his life, Keri Cozart. Although their marriage ended in divorce, they remained friends until the day he passed away. He had a son, Ramon, Jr., whom he loved dearly. Ramon loved to cook and grill, and he loved to play dominoes and spades. He loved people in general as well as his Pittsburgh Steelers football team. Ramon had a huge heart and looked out for many youngsters making sure they had food to eat or clothes on their back. Ramon enjoyed vacations in Hawaii, New York as well as Charleston, South Carolina, where he enjoyed walking on Folly Beach.
Ramon was preceded in death by his mom, Verna Jean Lee “Bonnie,” step-pops, Jesse Lee, Sr. “Chucky,” his father Willie Redding, Big Mama Lucille Veasey, Papa Vernon Veasey, Aunts Jackie Ward and LaVerne Ward, Uncles Cleo and Randell Ward, Vernon and Charles “CW” Veasey, cousins Josh Ward, William Billy Lyle and Raysianay Ward and god-mother, Joyce Lee.
Ramon leaves to cherish his memories: son: Ramon Redding, Jr., brothers: Stanley Stinson, Jr. and Jesse “Boo” Lee, III of Bakersfield, CA, grandchildren: Raylen Redding, Raiden Redding, Nirva Redding, and Ramon Redding, III; Aunts: Charlotte Clarke (Kenneth), Constance Ward and Evangelist Missionary Alma Veasey-Webster, of Bakersfield, CA; bonus son: Dezuan Webb; Nieces, nephews and cousins that loved himdearly, numerous close friends, best friends: Frank Randle, Danny Cannon and LaRon Harris.
