Rubie Jewel (Turner) Hosey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mentor, and faithful servant of the Lord, departed this life on June 13, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on January 3, 1943, in Gould, Arkansas, to Jesse Turner and Loretta "Pinkie" Harris. Rubie possessed a love for sports. She often shared fond memories of playing basketball as a child, and that enthusiasm remained with her throughout her life. Whether watching football, basketball, or cheering on the Dodgers, she enjoyed following her favorite teams from the comfort of home, often while sipping a Coca-Cola or raspberry tea.

 More than anything, Rubie loved the Lord. Having accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She developed an intimate and abiding relationship with Him that remained the foundation of her life. She considered her devotion to Christ above all else and consistently encouraged her family and others to cultivate a personal relationship with the Lord.

At the age of 17, Rubie moved to Bakersfield, California, where she would spend the majority of her life. There she attended Bakersfield College, raised her family, grew deeply in her faith, and became known among family and friends for her delicious peach cobbler and sweet potato pie. After starting her family, she became a member of New First Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J.T. Edwards, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board for many years. As the years passed, she continued her walk with Christ at True Light Baptist Church and later Lighthouse Christian Ministries, all in Bakersfield, CA.

In 2001, Rubie relocated to Fresno, CA where she joined Family Community Church under the leadership of Revernd Chester L McGensy. There, she served faithfully by helping prepare the elements for the Lord's Supper and assisting with hospitality ministries during times of bereavement. Her willingness to serve behind the scenes reflected her desire to minister to others in both joyful and difficult seasons of life. Rubie found great joy in studying God's Word. If she wasn't reading a book or devotional, she was most often reading her Bible. For many years, she faithfully participated in Bible Study Fellowship, where she received spiritual nourishment that helped transform her life and sustain her faith through life's many challenges. She was a devoted prayer warrior who spent countless hours interceding before God on behalf of others. Prayer was not merely something she practiced—it was one of her life's greatest ministries. Through her prayers, encouragement, and service, she faithfully served both her Lord and those around her.

She joined and served in fellowship with New First Community Baptist Church (Pastor J.T. Edwards), Lighthouse Chrisitan Ministries (Pastor Donald Vereen), Family Community Church of Fresno, CA (Rev. Chester L. McGensy), and Greater Harvest Christian Center (Bishop Vernon L. Kemp) before relocating to Las Vegas, NV. Rubie worked as a laborer, cook, and childcare provider.

She was known for her strong work ethic, generosity, and servant's heart. If you were hungry, she would feed you. If something needed to be done at church, she would volunteer. If you needed someone trustworthy to care for your child, you could call on Miss Rubie. She rarely took time away from work, and her example of diligence and responsibility was passed on to those she loved. Rubie was also blessed by many mentors who invested in her spiritual growth, and she faithfully returned that blessing by mentoring younger women. Whether they wanted to hear the truth or not, she lovingly shared wisdom, encouragement, and godly counsel with those who sought her advice. Her influence extended far beyond her family and touched the lives of many.

Rubie was preceded in death by her eldest son, Rodney Suell; her grandson, Rodney Suell Jr.; her great-grandson, Cameron Bonner; her parents, Jesse Turner and Loretta "Pinkie" Arnold; her sisters, Erma Jean, Robbie Zean, Alice Faye, Jessie Ann, and Catherine; and her brothers, Percy and Thomas. Rubie leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Clem Arnold (Jean); her children, Gwendolyn Renee (Curtis), Donna Faye (preceded in death by Raymond), Harold (Renee), Keith (RoShonda), and Devonne (Debra). She also leaves behind 28 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 63 great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that Rubie's faith has become sight. Her legacy of prayer, service, faithfulness, hard work, hospitality, and unwavering love for God and family will continue to inspire generations to come.
