Sharon Breeding was born on March 28, 1949, in Bakersfield, California, to Catherine Anna Lamb, and Leroy Stevenson, the only child of this union. She was raised in a strong Christian home and never strayed away from the church.
Sharon was one of the first students to attend McKinley Elementary School when it was built on Fourth Street in 1954. From a young age of 7 through 11 years, she enjoyed being a Ballerina. She attended Emerson Junior High and Bakersfield High School; she Graduated in 1967. During her High School years, Sharon participated in the Drill Team, called the “Drilletes.” She shared fond memories of how they would march in all the local parades and perform at the Bakersfield High school football games. She graduated from Hills Forcey Business College.
Sharon met Emery Breeding Sr. at Cain Memorial African Episcopal Church and married him in 1972; they were married for 20 years. From this union they had two children: Emery Jr., and Donte. She was 25 years old when she and Emery purchased their home where she remained for forty-nine years. Sharon loved her community and knew everyone who lived on her street.
Sharon worked for Hopper Steel Metal Company, where she was a Data Entry clerk. After the Company closed and relocated out of State, Sharon started a home for developmentally disabled children. She always felt that it was predestined for her to be in that line of work. Her true inspiration was due to having an autistic son. Sharon had a genuine love for the special needs’ population. In addition to caring for her own biological son Emery, she was the guardian of Robert for forty-two years. Sharon took great pride in The Breeding Family Home Business and was entrusted by the State of California to manage and run a licensed adult residential home to the highest standard.
Sharon believed in God and her faith was in Jesus her Savior. She was a faithful member of Praise Center Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Johnny Maroney and currently Pastor Ryan Shaw. She loved her church family and was the longest standing member of the church for thirty-four years.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Catherine Anna Lamb and Leroy Stevenson, Aunt Francis Tadiar, and her son Donte Breeding Sr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, one son Emery Breeding Jr., bonus son Robert Covert, grandsons Donte Breeding Jr. (Tamoisha), Jeremiah Breeding, great grandchildren Aaron Breeding, Donte Breeding II, and Adonis Breeding.
